Dimitrios Leventis and Team Win 2024 Patricia Flach Award for Best Presentation

We are excited to announce that Dimitrios Leventis and his team from Greece have won the prestigious Dr. Patricia Flach Award for the best presentation at the 2024 ISFRI meeting in Krakow. Their groundbreaking work on "Clavicle Bone Radiomics for Age Estimation in Forensic Medicine" has garnered significant recognition.

Award-Winning Research: Clavicle Bone Radiomics for Age Estimation

Dimitrios Leventis and his team conducted a study to improve age-at-death estimation, a critical aspect of biological profiling in forensic medicine. They utilized postmortem CT (PMCT) scans to analyze the compact bone tissue of the right clavicle in 150 individuals over 18 years old. By extracting radiomics features using PyRadiomics and employing a semi-automated segmentation method, they developed an XGBoost regression model. The model, optimized via "random search," demonstrated high performance with significant predictive accuracy. This innovative technique offers a reliable, unbiased method for AAD estimation, marking a significant advancement in forensic radiology.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dimitrios Leventis and his team for their exceptional contribution to the field of forensic radiology and imaging.
